Sarah joined KPC in May 2022 and currently works with us as Senior Quality Assurance Representative.
Hi Sarah, can you tell us about your career journey with KPC so far?
I previously worked for the same company for over ten years, so joining KPC was a big move and a change from the manufacturing environment I was familiar with. I’m fortunate to be one of the first employees in the UK as KPC expands into the country. I primarily work remotely but visit the Manchester head office once or twice a week. I have had the opportunity to work on various projects, which have required traveling between the UK and Ireland.
Can you summarize your day-to-day role?
Typically, on C&Q (Commissioning and Qualification) projects, there are several aspects that I am involved with in my role. Training is a key responsibility, ensuring that training records are up to date and that everyone is compliant with our internal training as well as client training requirements. Additionally, I oversee quality-impacting documentation, such as reviewing Installation and Operational Qualification (IOQs), Requirement Traceability Matrices (RTMs), or Summary reports. I am also involved in reporting quality metrics, for example, data from Process Capability Calculations (PCCs) or deviations, to lead teams or steering committees.
The other part of my job, away from projects, is maintaining KPC’s internal Quality Management System (QMS). This includes overseeing KPC’s documentation, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), supplier qualifications, internal audit schedule, and various other aspects to ensure that KPC’s QMS meets the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
What has been the most rewarding part of your time with KPC so far?
The most rewarding part has been the opportunities for personal and professional development, learning new skills, and being exposed to different areas of work within the company.
What have been some of your highlights so far with KPC?
I think one of the highlights of working for KPC so far is being given plenty of opportunities to develop. It’s great to be given a chance to learn and develop new skills, even in areas you might not be familiar with. I’ve recently been working on a consultation project as a project manager, specifically focused on shipping validation. This is something I’ve never been directly involved with before, especially from a project management perspective, but I found it really interesting. It has added another valuable skill to my repertoire, so to speak.
How would you describe KPC as an employer?
KPC is expanding into the UK, and as one of the first employees here, it has been a positive experience. The work has been interesting, varied, and challenging. The company provides opportunities for growth and development, and there is a supportive environment with great colleagues.
Working with KPC means working on some of the most challenging but rewarding pharmaceutical and biotech projects across the world, and supporting the industry’s best-known companies to make life-changing products for patients.
